You may recall last year about this time I mentioned that I had a project in a book. The book is the brainchild of two of my favorite sewing buddies: Caroline from SewCanShe and Sarah from Blue Susan Makes. We met a few years back at Quilt Market and have been friends ever since.
Isn’t it time we sewed something for ourselves?
Isn’t it time to do a little sewing for ourselves. That what Just For You is all about, taking a little time to sew something for ourselves. As one of the book’s contributors, I get to participate in the Sewlebrity Sewalong at SewCanShe.com
For my project I chose to make the Bella Pouch. I think that it is the perfect little runaround bag. Just the right size to hold your wallet, phone, keys, and sunglasses. I can drop it into a larger bag or just grab and go.
Add in a few necessary items and you’re out the door in no time, flat. That’s what I mean when I say it is the perfect runaround bag.
I love how the pattern includes a pocket, so you can toss in loose change or small items like a lipstick.
Just For You
Just For You is broken down into twelve months of projects with two projects each month. Lots of simple-to-sew projects that won’t take too much time but are still fun to sew. Choose your favorite fabrics and have some fun! (affiliate)
Where to buy the supplies
- The book is available through this affiliate link: Just For You
- The fabric I used is Happy Home by Art Gallery Fabrics.
- I purchased the swivel clasp and d-ring at my local Hobby Lobby.
Personally, I’ve found that taking 20 minutes a day to do a little selfish sewing is the perfect cure for almost anything. I am more relaxed and feel like I’ve accomplished something. I know the same will be true for you if you take just a few minutes every day to step away from life and sew a stitch or two.
That is SO cute and I do love a small purse. Just perfect. Cute fabric.
Hi Leslie, That is so adorable and convenient is it a simple to sew pattern as I am not a great sewer. I use to sew for my children when they were small but it has been over 25 years.
You have wonderful ideas I do enjoy seeing your emails.

The contest gadget says it will start in 17 hours. Is that a mistake?
Thank you for alerting me to this. I’ve corrected the problem and the contest widget should now be working.
I am always making things for family and friends and I have very few items that I make Just For Me. I think it is time.
I haven’t sewn something for myself in years. I’m a new empty nester so this could be the start of something new for me.
I will be retiring and looking forward to doing more sewing. I have made many gifts for family and friends over the years, but now I am looking forward to sewing for myself; bags, quilts, clothing and household items.
I love making zip pouches, but like the look of this handy pouch!
I love making bags! This will help add to my repertoire of bags I can make. Thank you for the chance to win.
It just would be nice to have a few little quiltly accessories for myself. I always admire them, but seldom make them.
I love carrying these little bags rather than the big black hole of a purse I used to carry!
I want to do a little selfish sewing as a gift to myself…all year long I sew for others so this time of year I treat myself to something just for me. 🙂
I’m a retiree who is now downsizing my entire household in preparation for a move into a tiny house next year, so a smaller purse or two that can be folded into a tiny space will be a necessity! I will add tabs and rings to the design so I can have a cross-body strap for it. I love to be hands-free when I go out! Thank you for this opportunity to win Caroline’s book! I am a fan and follower!
What a great idea! I’m definitely going to do this, too!
I would love to do something for myself! Most of my sewing projects are for other people – like my grandkids! 😉
Great little bag, would love to have the book.
I am always looking for the perfect bag, and never seem to be able to find what I really need without making it myself! So I’m picky about purses and bags and such.
love the bella pouch:; selfish sewing sooths my mind and soul.
What a gorgeous pouch. I love the idea of a book of things to create for yourself. It is so easy to get caught up creating for others and missing out yourself.
This is PERFECT for my granddaughter who is just beginning to need a purse!!
This looks like a nice book with great projects. I like the description that you give of the projects being broken down into twelve months. That makes them all seem doable. It won’t become a book that sits on the shelf.
Because I am the one I keep forgetting to sew for!
I usually sew for my kids….so I really want to start making a few things for myself and wear some of my own creations….
That’s an adorable little bag. I’d love to make it and a lot of other things for myself. I love the idea of two projects a month. That’s doable
I’d love to have this book because everything I do is for others and on a deadline basis. The description of twelve months of projects is appealing and doable. I’d start with the Runaround Bag because I do so much running around and a small grab-it-and-go bag would help a lot. Thanks for the opportunity.
Finding time to sew for myself is a way I relax and do something just for me. I can listen to music and just let my mind wander without having to answer to anyone. I enjoy my me time. Making the pouch may be just what I need in restful time as well as creating a very useful object. I can hardly wait.
What a great book – This is the cutest bag; I have just the fabric to use, a great toile I’ve been holding on to for the perfect project, and this is it1 Thank you
What a cute idea for the grand girls for their birthdays with a little extra green tucked inside. So easy to personalize gifts. Thanks for the idea.
Love this giveaway, and really love that bag. Would love to make that bag for each of my GF for the holidays. Super Sweet!!!
I need to do some selfish sewing! I’m school bus driver and I need a little purse to carry my essentials since buses don’t have much storage space for personal items.
Such a cute little bag. Perfect!
I always seem to be quilting/sewing for others so now I need to do something for me. Love the purse, seems to be just the right size and cute.
It’s always for the house or just general mending. I love handbags, and would like to update my Winter options.
Why indeed?? Don’t we all just deserve just me time…..no question ? ??
I have just started sewing for myself…I have been sewing for family and friends for years. I now that I only have a small bit of a room to sew in..I like to make smaller projects..So I can whip up a scarf, or top and skirt in just a little bit of time…This is a cute little pouch…
You’re right! I never sew for myself. This looks like a great book to start. The small purse is a great starting point. Thanks!
It’s been years since I’ve sewn anything for anyone, but we inherited a very nice little machine with multiple stitches so I’m getting the urge to make something. For me! What a darling purse!
I’m trying to get started sewing again and I’m obsessed with bags of all types – I’ve pinned dozens, but never started. This bag is darling and I would be a great start for me. The book looks great!
I have done such a little bit of sewing lately. So, sewing for myself will get me back in the stream.
I have been wanting a little purse where I can just grab and run without having to take my big purse this would be perfect.. I haven’t made any thing for me in a long time.
I haven’t seen the book yet, but I think I’ll need to make EVERY project based on the sew along posts I’ve been seeing.
I love bags. I use them for lots of things.

I’d just like to make the bag, for myself, but also for Christmas gifts.
I would love to make the bag for my nieces for christmas.
This is an adorable little bag! I’m sewing/crocheting gifts for my family for Christmas, and I think I might make myself this adorable little bag! Thank you for this giveaway!
I almost never sew for myself- but I am vowing to change that! I have gone so far as to order fabric for myself which is a big step- now I just need to sew it!
I like this bag and would love to win the book.
I rarely get to sew but never for myself. I’d love to make a little bag or something for my personal use.
Really cute little pouch! Thanks for the chance!
I love to sew little purses and cute blouses — something else to enjoy all my quilting fabric!
I deserve to do some selfish sewing for ME where I can choose the fabric, the pattern and the detail and make it all mine!
I usually give away what I make. It’s time I sew for myself.
Am usually sewing for someone else, time to do some sewing for me…”Just Because”…no hurry, or deadline! 🙂
I’m always sewing for everyone else. Time to sew for me.
I totally agree it’s time to do some sewing for me. Janet
So cute and I’m so worth it!!
It’s been over a year and a half since I sewed something for myself, so i think it’s about time I did.
I sew mostly for others these days and thought maybe it was time to make something for myself. Thank you for giving me an easy something to make.
