INSIDE: Sewing Tips for Beginners
I was looking over some of my past sewing related blog posts and it occurred to me that new readers might not know what is available. So, I’ve put together a roundup of some of my own Sewing Tips for Beginners. Because y’all know that in my sewing heart of hearts I’m really passionate about encouraging new sewists.

Sewing Tips for Beginners
Let’s start with the basics. Before you begin sewing you need to know a little about some of the supplies. One of the most important supplies you will use are pins. Did you know that all pins aren’t equal.
1. Sewing Pins are essential.

2. And how about a cute little Pin Cushion to hold those pins.
3. Before getting started it’s best to Understand About Thread Weight.

4. Knowing All About Sewing Machine Feet is essential.

5. Finish Seams without a Serger
6. Gather Fabric easily.

7. Serger owners can Gather Fabric on a Serger.

8. Making Bias Tape is sew simple.
9. Attaching Bias Tape ~ even easier!

10. Once you’ve mastered Bias Tape, Making and Attaching Piping is the next step.

11. Shirring Fabric with Elastic Thread

12. Attaching Buttons with a Sewing Machine

Sewing really isn’t that hard, it just takes a little practice. Try mastering a few of these tips and you will be amazed at how easy sewing really is.
Thank you so much for thinking about us newbies… I’ve been sewing for a couple years but only very basic things and even then, it is quite obvious that I’m mostly just winging it. I plan to devour the gems revealed here when I get a free moment…. I’m thinking that will work out to be sometime in mid 2021. : )
GREAT roundup of sewing tips! I don’t do much sewing besides the occasional repair of a tear, or hem. I’ve always wanted to learn more though. PINing this one. Thank you so much for stopping by the Friday Frenzy Blog Hop and linking up. Come back soon!

I love your blog because I learn so much from you. We are currently remodeling our upstairs and when it is done I will finally have my own craft room. I am saving your E-mails so I can reference them when I finally get to my sewing machine.
Can’t believe after all these years, I’m just learning what the strawberry is for! Thank you
I am so glad that you did this roundup because I had missed those tutorials – I just bought a box full of feet from Amazon so I’m off to read your guide as I have no idea what to do with most of them!
Great tutorial, thanks for sharing at the #WWDParty.
Wow! This post is like an encyclopedia for beginning sewists. It’s fabulous! I will be taking some time to relish and learn from all your wonderful tips and ideas.
Hugs and happy weekend,
Kelley~
I want to start sewing more but don’t have much experience so I love that you put all this in one place. Thank you. Pinned so I can come back and learn.
What a wonderful list of resources! Thank you so much! My sisters are very into sewing cute outfits for their girls–I’m passing this along to them. Thanks again! 🙂
I love that you put the hacks all in their own post. This removes a lot of potential clutter from one post and makes it easier for the reader to actually find what they are looking for. Rather than scroll through a massively long page of text with a picture here and there, you can just click the one you want to look at and have only the information for that one.
Thanks for the information about sewing! I have wanted to learn how to sew for a long time now, and I am finally going to give it a shot. Thanks for the tip about getting plenty of sewing pins and a pin cushion. That will be the first thing I invest in!
Thanks for putting all these in one place. I have been playing with sewing machines since my childhood but still I missed some of the basic tips. Today I learnt a lot.
Love these tips, very helpful! Thanks for sharing!
