When I was at Quilt Market I was was chatting with a couple of new friends I had met and we were talking sewing. I asked them a question, “Are you like me? When you are in your sewing space, do you feel happy?” They knew exactly what I was talking about. It’s a sense of satisfaction that comes over you as you sit behind your sewing machine joining pieces of fabric together. Troubles seem to disappear and in their place is happiness.
I’m not really sure I can explain why something like sewing makes me a happier person. Does it have to do with self-esteem or self-sufficiency? I’ll leave that to the experts.
What I’m really talking about is a feeling. It’s the same feeling I get when I pop into my neighborhood fabric store. There I am surrounded by yards and yards of fabulous fabrics. I’m walking around, touching the fabrics; all the while my mind is wild with ideas and I feel so alive. I’m overwhelmed and thrilled at the same time. It’s that euphoric sensation that I’m talking about ~ I just can’t wait to get home and start sewing.
And, when I get home with my bag of goodies, I know that walking into my sewing room and sitting behind my sewing machine will nourish something deep within my soul.
Even thinking about it makes me happy.

I have that same feeling when I step into my kitchen.
Lovely blog. Found you through Bloggy Moms.
I guess the feeling comes from being in a creative space ~ enjoy your creative space!
