All About Machine Embroidery:: Day 24 – Embroidering Letters and Monograms

Welcome back to:

Read the whole series here.

Today, through the end of the month, I will be highlighting different types of embroidery.

Most embroiderers find they prefer just a few types of embroidery.  I happen to love monograms and applique.

Today, I will highlight embroidered lettering, names, and monograms.

Here’s a great example of embroidering manners on napkins from this store on Etsy.

How cute is that!  Embroidering words and phrases is almost limitless.  If you can think it up, you can embroider it.

Imagine if everything your baby owned was embroidered with his or her name.  I found these lovely embroidered burp cloths on here on Etsy.

So simple, yet so elegant.  Lucky Juliet.

A monogrammed name turns something inexpensive like a burp cloth or baby bib into an elegant gift.  Now, imagine the possibilities.

I have spent the majority of my life living south of I-10.  Because of this, I have an affinity for embroidered towels.

Like these kitchen towels from peggydaviddesigns on Etsy which I totally love.

Pottery Barn has built a part of their business on monogrammed towels.  Elegant, elegant, elegant.

If monogramming is your embroidery thing, then you may want to purchase additional fonts after overusing the ones that come loaded on your machine.

For me, almost all of my font sets have been purchased through Etsy sellers or YouCanMakeThis

There are a few software programs that are fonts only.  These would be available at a sewing machine dealer.  They are pretty expensive, but the programs come with more size options.  If you plan to embroider lots of monograms, you may want to look into this.

I know that these ideas barely scratch the surface.  That’s the idea.  You need to come up with things you want to monogram.

The possibilities are endless.
